The Women’s Entrepreneurship Festival of Crete, which took place from 7 to 9 August 2026 at the International Exhibition Centre of Crete (ICEC), was attended by Konstantina Fylladaki and Pavlos Kapetanakis, members of the Municipality of Sitia team for the European programme Horizon Europe – Regions4Climate.

The event, which is an initiative of the Development Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Crete, highlighted modern Cretan production, cottage industries, handicrafts and the dynamic presence of women in business activity. It also served as a meeting place for producers, entrepreneurs and organisations, creating opportunities for networking and cooperation.

The participation of the Sitia Municipality team was part of the dissemination of the actions and results of Regions4Climate, with an emphasis on information and exchange of views on climate adaptation, sustainable development and the opportunities created for local production and entrepreneurship.

Of particular interest was the connection of the event with female entrepreneurship and equality. The women of Crete constitute an important part of productive and entrepreneurial activity, transforming local knowledge and tradition into modern products and services. Strengthening their participation in economic life is a key element of a fair and resilient development path.

At the same time, the presence in the event provided the opportunity for contacts with producers, businesses and institutions of Crete, with the aim of exploring new collaborations and creating communication channels that can support the future actions of the Municipality of Sitia.

Through Regions4Climate, the Municipality of Sitia continues to bring European experience and knowledge closer to the local community, seeking practical solutions for climate adaptation and at the same time new opportunities for cooperation, innovation, equality and sustainable local development.
